The Puddle Prince

He was my first prince.
Green and wide-eyed, with skin like rain and legs made for leaping.

I built him castles of stone and whispered secrets into his mossy halls.
He listened. He stayed.

He taught me that magic doesn’t always look like the stories say it will.
Sometimes it’s smaller. Slimier. Closer to the ground.

But oh, how royal he felt to me.
